Nutrition and Care of Children and the Elderly

The project

  • Ten-month training programme in care-giving and nutrition of infants and the elderly.
  • This programme will enhance the skills of 80 trained volunteer Community Health Workers who already serve their neighbours in the poor districts surrounding Manila.

The need

  • Malnutrition affects a large number of infants and the elderly in the Philippines and the exodus of trained health professionals to other countries aggravates the problem.

What additional skills will the CHWs learn from the specialized training programme?

  • infant and child care;
  • adult and elderly care;
  • basic nutrition and food preparation;
  • communication skills and work ethic.

Our partner in the Philippines

    • manage their health conditions
    • prevent diseases
    • improve their hygiene
    • decrease malnutrition

LINCCO's objective

  • Raise $27 500 in Canada to support this training program
